DEPRESSION ERA CURRENCY
Though dated 1929, these amazing $20 Federal Reserve Notes or Brown Seals were issued at the height of the depression in 1933. The release of these notes coincided with FDRs Executive Order No. 6102 signed on April 5, 1933, “forbidding the Hoarding of Gold Coin, Gold Bullion, and Gold Certificates within the continental United States”. These 1929 Federal Reserve Notes were not exchangeable for gold or silver.
