Here is an article I came across during my studies. This excerpt from The Day, New London, Connecticut on April 17th, 1963 by the late Sylvia Porter. In this article she gives the inside scoop as to why the government needed to change the writings on the dollar bill.

 

This is a great history lesson that highlights the importance of knowing your history.
